Working in weddings, you have a tendency to see a lot of the same ideas recreated over and over. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen mason jars or wine bottles with twinkle lights used as centerpieces or the sign-our-wedding-photo instead of a traditional guest book. While cute, these ideas have been so over done that they’ve lost any resemblance of being special or one-of-a-kind. So when I finally see something new and innovative, it warrants a blog post!
I recently had a meeting with a bride and groom for their upcoming wedding in the Planetarium. During this meeting it was revealed that they planned to do a…wait for it…wedding PIÑATA! I’ve been doing weddings at the Museum for almost 5 years and I have never seen a piñata make an appearance. We’ve had them for birthday parties, sure, but never a wedding! What a smashing idea (see what I did there?!)! I googled this, of course, and it turns out it’s a “thing” now, but it’s still new to me! I saw an article on BRIDES.com (link below) that says couples are smashing piñatas instead of the traditional cake smash. As a girl who was not about to let her hair and makeup get ruined, I’m all for this! Olé!
I’m so excited to see how the piñata goes at our wedding next weekend and more importantly, what goodies are inside! Stay tuned!
